Christopher McQuarrie could do the remake of "Ice Station Zebra" The 1968 MGM movie based on the Alistair McLean novel was about an American Naval submarine team racing the Russians to retrieve sensitive photographic material in the Arctic and it was one of the very first submarine action movies with all the torpedoes and intrigue and double agents that you would expect from one. It's illustrious cast included Rock Hudson, Ernest Borgnine, Patrick McGoohan and Jim Brown and it was a major hit at the time.
Andrew Garfield to star in "Silence" The drama, based on the novel by Shusaku Endo, is set in the 17th century as two Jesuit priests face violence and persecution when they travel to Japan to locate their mentor and to spread the gospel of Christianity.
Paul Solet set to helm "Dark Summer" Said to be a highly stylized modern ghost story, Dark Summer follows Daniel Williamson, a 17 year old on house arrest for the summer. With his mother away on business, a horrifying incident occurs, followed by an even more terrifying presence in the house.
John Travolt to star in "The Forger" tells the story of a former child art prodigy and second generation petty thief, Ray Cutter (Travolta) who arranges to buy his way out of prison to spend time with his ailing son, only to be forced to change his plans and commit one last big job for the syndicate who financed his early release.
Shane Black to do a movie of "Doc Savage" One of the most popular characters of the pulps of the 1930s and 40s, Doc Savage was also popularized on radio, film and television. Robert Redford is to direct "A Walk In The Woods" The Appalachian Trail trail stretches from Georgia to Maine and covers some of the most breathtaking terrain in America–majestic mountains, silent forests, sparking lakes. If you’re going to take a hike, it’s probably the place to go. And Bill Bryson is surely the most entertaing guide you’ll find. He introduces us to the history and ecology of the trail and to some of the other hardy (or just foolhardy) folks he meets along the way–and a couple of bears. Already a classic, A Walk in the Woods will make you long for the great outdoors (or at least a comfortable chair to sit and read in).
Steve Antin to do "The Girlfriend" The female-driven comedy follows a woman who, after learning that her husband is cheating on her, realizes that she can move in with the other woman, posing as an unknowing roommate, to get her revenge.
Jack Thorne to Adatpt "Wonder" based on the book. August (Auggie) Pullman was born with a facial deformity that prevented him from going to a mainstream school—until now. But can he convince his new classmates that he's just like them, despite appearances?
Vince Vaughn's to be in "Daddy's Home" It is the story of a mild-mannered radio executive (Ferrell) who strives to become the best stepdad ever to his wife's two children, but complications ensue when their freewheeling, freeloading real father (Vaughn) arrives, forcing stepdad to compete for the affection of the kids.
Nicolas Cage in "Hotel 33" The film is based on the presumed event surrounding the disappearance of 32 people on the opening night of the Grand Hotel in Williamsport, PA in 1953. While Detective Kaminsky (Cage) is investigating the event, four teenagers break into the now-abandoned hotel for a night of festivities. Things soon go awry, and Detective Kaminsky now has to turn his attentions to discovering the mysterious happenings surrounding the strange disappearance of two of the four teenagers.
Timur Bekmambetov plans "Squirrels" film. When a young man’s estranged father is killed under suspicious circumstances, he returns home for the first time in years to get to the bottom of the mystery. Hoping to uncover some logical explanation, he instead finds his mom’s sleazy new boyfriend, a natural gas company buying up the town, an angry female sheriff who happens to be his ex-girlfriend, and an army of flesh-eating squirrels hellbent on destroying everything in their path due to an erosion of their food chain as a result of environmental destruction by the gas company.
Timothy Olyphant to lead in the movie "The Man On Carrion Road" is the visceral story of a botched Mexican cartel deal in the back roads of a border town. The town's new sheriff (played by Olyphant) must team up with the retired lawman he replaced to investigate the source of the deal in order to stop a mysterious cartel butcher and his systematic brutalization of the town's residents. A gritty and modern thriller, The Man on Carrion Road collides head on with the pathos and hard realities that inhabit life along the border; it's a story that explores the ambitions, difficulties, and consequences that turn men into monsters and monsters into reality.
